이유진의 작업은 자신과 가족/주변인들의 삶을 관찰하고, 사회/문화적 차이에 의해 다층적으로 형성되는 관계에서 출발한다. 이번 전시에는 2014년에 발표한 탈 시리즈에서 확장한 <108번뇌>와 동판을 제작하는 과정과 어머니의 출산을 비유한 <태몽>, 그리고 자전적 이야기가 담긴 드로잉과 우연히 발견한 문장들, 그리고 외국에서 수집한 구한말 시기의 슬라이드 필름 등의 오브제들을 통해 이유진은 자기 자신으로부터 비롯된 흔적들을 시작으로 점점 범위를 넓혀 가족/도시/국가의 흔적 등 증거들을 역추적하여 스스로 '나는 누구인가'라는 근원적인 질문을 한다. 이 작업들은 끈질긴 노동과 반복적인 수집으로 쌓인 시간의 주름이 하나의 표층처럼 발현한다.
